Help for stupid api that I've pulled 90% of my hair out over

Alright so I honestly need to start from scratch since I've been tweaking out over this. Let's say I have a web server on X ip. it's on port Y. I have multiple files stored at the EXA/MPLE directory. I want to make the python script (using the requests library) get the server to return the specified query and 100 characters before the query and 100 characters after. I'll add color later but i just need that basic framework.
